State of the Art Athletics & Recreation Complex

Giving Us All Something to Cheer About

Recreational facilities are a crucial part of a school’s culture. Not only for its athletes, but for all students, and the people who cheer them on. Participating in physical activities has a host of benefits for students, for their bodies and for their minds. To that end, a portion of the state aid we receive through the referendum will be used to enhance our Physical Education instruction.

One of the most exciting benefits of the upgraded athletic and recreation complex will be what it offers the wider Collingswood community: A safe and inclusive environment to exercise and play, to cheer on our teams, and to hold large outdoor events and concerts.

Athletic Upgrades

The athletic fields and running track at the Collingswood Middle and High School have long been inadequate and below a standard that would allow us to host certain athletic events. Voting yes on the referendum will allow us to reorient the fields to optimize their placement and convert them to multi-sport artificial turf. Our running track will be expanded to an 8-lane, 400m rubberized surface running track, allowing us to host state track meets.

The district will construct a new, 1,500 spectator home grandstand with a press box, as well as a new building to house concessions, bathrooms, and team rooms. Existing maintenance and storage buildings will remain as part of the complex.

New vinyl-coated chain link fencing will be installed around the entire site, including the running track and turf fields

The complex will have an upgraded sound system, as well as a new state-of-the-art lighting system that reduces impact to neighboring properties.

Improved ADA and emergency vehicle access will ensure that the complex is safe for use by the entire community.
